Our Story

Started by Nonprofit Professionals, for Nonprofit Professionals

NonprofitsHUB was born out of a genuine frustration. A group of nonprofit leaders and social sector professionals found themselves using generic professional networks that had no concept of what "NPSP" or "program grant cycle" meant, couldn't filter jobs by mission area, and had no way to distinguish a seasoned executive director from a first-time volunteer coordinator.

The founders were maintaining personal spreadsheets of sector contacts, posting in Facebook groups to find candidates, and spending hours searching through irrelevant job listings. Meanwhile, they knew the right candidates and the right opportunities existed — they were just invisible to each other.

So they built NonprofitsHUB. A platform where every search filter maps to a nonprofit concept. Where your sector experience is a first-class profile element. Where "looking for opportunities" in the social sector means something specific and the right people can find you.

What started as a private community among 50 nonprofit professionals has grown into a global network spanning 6 continents, 50+ countries, and every mission area imaginable — all still guided by that original frustration turned into purpose.

Q1 2022 — The Idea Origin
Four nonprofit professionals — frustrated after losing a great candidate to a generic job board — sketch the first wireframes of NonprofitsHUB during a virtual coffee call.
Q3 2022 — Private Beta Beta
NonprofitsHUB launches in private beta with 50 handpicked social sector professionals. The first job posting goes live within 48 hours and is filled in 3 weeks — faster than any LinkedIn post any of them had tried.
Q2 2023 — 1,000 Members Milestone
We cross 1,000 members organically — no paid advertising, just nonprofit professionals referring colleagues. The job board and organization directory launch. 10 nonprofits sign up on the first day.
Q4 2023 — Volunteer Program Initiative
We launch the NonprofitsHUB Volunteer Connect Initiative — free volunteer role listings for verified nonprofit organizations. Within 60 days, 50+ nonprofits have posted volunteer opportunities.
2024 — Global Expansion Global
NonprofitsHUB reaches 50+ countries. Members from Africa, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America now make up 40% of the community. We add localized content and multi-sector job categories.
2025 — Mentorship & Today Now
The Nonprofit Mentorship Program pairs 200+ early-career professionals with senior leaders. We continue shipping updates driven entirely by community feedback — with our next major release focused on AI-powered job matching for mission-driven careers.
